Syzygy Productions is a new production company specializing
in Science Fiction and Fantasy. We are casting for an independently
produced 1 hr television pilot, with principle photography currently expected
to take place in mid to late February.
This is an ultra-low budget production. Non-union and
Fi-Core actors are welcome to audition. The pilot will air on two
mid-sized cable networks and two others are also considering airing this pilot
episode as well. Considerable national exposure is possible with this
pilot.
Shooting of the pilot will take place entirely on-location
in multiple locations throughout northeast Ohio.
Pay is low, but all speaking roles are paid positions.
If the show continues past the pilot, pay will go up for all recurring roles.
We'll be casting the following specific roles, listed in
order of number of lines in the pilot. Some of the characters with more
lines in the pilot are not as important in the series, and some who don't have
too many lines in the pilot recur more heavily in the series.
MANY of the roles available portray high school
students, for legal reasons and availability, we prefer actors who are over 18
but can pass for high school students, but will consider younger actors if
appropriate actors of age cannot be found.
ALL actors portraying male teens should be able to skate well, and hopefully able to play hockey.
Adam Kensoi
The lead character. The entire show revolves around
Adam Kensoi, so a very serious, very talented actor is needed for this
role. Adam is a medium to slightly tallish 17 year old in great
shape. He plays Left Wing for his hockey team. He's a good natured,
mostly normal teenage boy with one small exception. Adam has some strange
abilities that he doesn't understand. The whole concept of the first
season is about Adam discovering himself, finding out who he is and why he can
do these things like seeming to read minds, have visions, and even slight
telekinesis. He has moments where he sleepwalks/talks, reverting to his 4
year old self in his sleep. For physical appearance, think Jeremy
Sumpter. To see what Jeremy currently looks like, see his IMDb profile.
5'9" - 6'0"
Jennifer Weekes
Jennifer (17) is a girl who has been in love with Adam for
years, but he's always thought of her as best friends until recently. Jen
is very attractive, but not fashion model attractive. Maybe a bit of a
tomboy. In ways she's like Adam's mother. She is slightly older
than Adam, but in the same grade (Junior in H.S.)
5'3" - 5'8"
Sandra Kensoi
Sandra is Adam's mom. Roughly late 30's to 40. Attractive
and able to take care of herself. Sandra is a friendly, “cool" mom, but
doesn't take any crap. She's been single ever since her husband died over
ten years ago, concentrating on her work and Adam. She has no love interest
in the pilot, but one comes along very early in the first season and creates a
lot of tension between Sandra, Adam, and Jennifer.
5'3" - 5'9"
Steven Rivers
Steven (17) is Adam's best friend and the one who introduced
him to hockey. Steven is a bit short and while physically capable, not
entirely sure of himself. His dad is a jerk, bully type who is always
making Steven feel as if he's not good enough. It doesn't help that his
younger brother seems to be better at hockey. When his dad is not around,
his hockey-playing improves dramatically and he becomes his team's
captain. He is the Center on the hockey team.
5'6" - 5'9"
Kyle
Kyle (17) is the main antagonist of the pilot. He's
something of a bully and can be pretty tough to deal with. In later
episodes both we and Adam begin to understand why Kyle is the way he is and he
begins to lighten up, but he'll still be pretty intense. Kyle's father
disappeared many years ago and he and his mother have lived with her brother,
Kyle's uncle, ever since. The uncle is a worthless drunk abuser who keeps
his sister feeling small and helpless and has picked on Kyle all his
life. Kyle comes across as bigoted at times, even though the closest
thing he has to a friend happens to be a black guy and teammate. The
truth is, he's abrasive and speaks rudely to everyone, pushing their buttons by
saying what he thinks will offend or hurt them the most. He is another
Center on the hockey team and competes with Steven to be Captain. Proper
casting is critical for this role and a strong actor is needed who can portray
a character who is a jerk due to a rough childhood but not “evil." The
actor will also be able to switch from total jerk to vulnerable and possibly
even broken at some point. A very full range of emotions and acting
skills are required for this character, as he develops throughout the first
season.
6'0" - 6'4"
Eric
Eric (17) is the closest thing Kyle has to a best
friend. He's the only black guy on the hockey team and plays Left Wing on
Kyle's line. Even though Kyle can be pretty obnoxious, Eric doesn't seem
to let it bother him at all. He's a funny, agreeable kind of person, but
not a “comedian" per se. Just a cool, level headed kid. Sometimes
he's good at diffusing situations.
5'9" - 6'2"
Cara
Cara is a cute, short redhead/strawberry blonde 16 year old
girl that Steven would really like to make his girlfriend. He has known her since elementary school when
she was teased by other kids including Steven for being a misfit, brace faced, ugly
duckling. She is now somewhere between cute and sexy; a little pixie who stirs
up trouble because Steven wants her but she wants Adam, who is now spoken
for. That doesn't stop her.
4'10" - 5'3"
Burt Rivers
Steven's dad. Burt was a hockey player when he was
younger, but never made the majors and had to leave the minors due to an
injury, so he tries to live out his hockey dreams vicariously through his
sons. Steven is his oldest boy and Burt rides him hard, especially since
Steven's younger brother is better than he is. Burt is completely
oblivious to the fact that part of Steven's hockey performance issues are
because Burt makes him both nervous and embarrassed by his “bleacher-seat
coaching" behavior when Steven is playing or practicing.
Deep down he really does want what's best for his sons, but
he's poor at showing it.
5'9" - 6'1"
Frank
Frank is Kyle's uncle. Kyle and his mother live with
Frank and he never lets them forget it. He's a drunk jerk who is probably
the biggest reason Kyle is so messed up. In the pilot, that's really all
we know about Frank, but he becomes a more important character as the series
goes on. Need a strong, skilled actor for this role.
5'10 - 6'2"
Nicky Angelino
Nicky (17) is the Right Wing of Steven and Adam's hockey
line. He attends a different school. His girlfriend is Vanessa
Molanda.
5'9" - 6'1"
Vanessa Molanda
Nicky's girlfriend. Eastern European accent (Ie:
Polish, Slavic, Russian, etc…)
5'2" - 5'9." She quickly becomes good friends with
Jennifer and the members of the hockey team.
Kenny Sullivan
A true hayseed hick. Kenny is a corn munchin' straw
hangin' from his mouth hick boy. A good ol' boy with a good, friendly
disposition. He is the main goalie on Adam's hockey team.
5'9" - 6'1"
Darren (D.C.) Calder
D.C. (17) is a large, but loveable teddy bear type of
character. He plays defense and usually is teamed with Trevor on the
hockey team.
6'2" or taller.
Trevor Duncan
Trevor (17) attends Cherry Hill East High School with Adam
and a few of the others. He plays defense for Adam's team.
5'9" - 6'1
More hockey team members. Usually featured background,
but once in a while have lines. All are 17 years old and need to be
available for at least one day of shooting for every episode.
Defense
Davis, Taylor, Bailey, Dobie, Patrick, Ivie
Offense
Fee (RW), Alan (LW), Brody (C), Andrews (RW), Erickson
(LW), Hanssen (C), J.P. (RW)
Other non recurring or rarely recurring roles:
Greg Kensoi
Greg is Adam's father. Greg died back when Adam was 5
years old and we see him in flashbacks and “visions." He's a regular,
good looking guy. Patient and good natured, but strong willed. Not
a big role in the first season, but recurring.
5'9" - 6'1"
Mr. Stapleford
He is the math teacher for Steven and Adam. 5'2" -
6'4"
4yr old/5yr old Adam
This role will not be a huge one, but will need to recur as
Adam has flashbacks throughout the series.
Agent Jones
35-55 yrs old. Jones is a government agent. He
oversees research on a large crystal in the government's possession that seems
to have something to do with Adam's abilities. This role will grow in
importance as the series progresses.
Akuna
40 - 70 yrs. Old. This is another critical recurring
guest role that becomes more and more important as the series progresses.
Akuna is an Australian Aborigine. He appears to Adam in visions and
dreams. If you don't physically match the appearance of an Australian
Aborigine and do an Australian accent or African/middle eastern accent very
well, please don't submit yourself for this role. Prefer someone
with a somewhat “weathered" look.
