Dragon Con won third place in a vote for best event in 2009. Paul McCartney concert won, so competition was tough!

Amazing Fountain on Talenthouse websiteThere's a cool website for artists called Talenthouse that has contests. I just entered one, for Paul McCartney art. I did up a fantasy with a unicorn since they're symbolic of love. You can check out my entry and the site at I'm soliciting votes for this art contest. If you care to cooperate, it's linked from my wall or try http://www.talenthou...150362034026882

All votes appreciated, and I hope you find the website interesting.

I've voted :)
Individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and philosophers of today - but the core of science fiction, its essence has become crucial to our salvation if we are to be saved at all. - Isaac Asimov
There's an IRC channel set up for this place - #scifistudios on the EFNet network (irc.efnet.org). If you have mIRC installed, just click this link (mIRC will open it and you will come to the channel). Maybe I should open #syzygystudios as well...

Thanks, BJ! Votes are only a factor in the judging, which is good as it's more fair to those without any on-line presence, but it would be embarrassing not to have a few votes. I'll check in there later and see if anyn more strangers voted.

This is a cool and potentially useful website for connecting with interesting people.

I could use some help with what TV stations have the "good stuff" on them. We had to subscribe to cable finally since analog is going out and we want to keep getting the news live. There's an overwhelming number of stations I've never or hardly heard of available. I've figured out the main ones and when some of the big prime time stuff I was getting on DVD are on, like NCIS, Castle, House... Here's a link to the stations we're supposed to get in case anyone has any info on them in their heads handy (like Scott might). I've started googling them but it will take a while to sort out if they have any good stuff.

For some reason I can't put the link to the exact list but if you click "Basic package" then "see more stations" the complete list comes up. We don't get TSN (The Sports Network) but everytime I see it on the huge list of stations we could subcribe to I wish you wouldn't refer to The Syzygy Network as TSN.

CBS, FOX, USA, ABC, NBC, Bravo, Comedy Central... I think that covers it. I tend to not notice the channel watermark on the shows I watch (I don't get any of those channels...but all the shows I want <.< ).

We already had cable ready to be added easily because of our cable internet, so we went with that.
We don't get Bravo, not sure about USA. There's a decent station called Showcase and others I have to check out. A woman's station that doesn't look too promising. I don't know if I'm a strange woman but I generally prefer shows with some manly hunk to ones with just strong women. Women leads are very popular right now it seems, for stations/writers/producers which is fine (after all, Medsci has one too) but give me a handsome hero, too!

Anyway, thanks for the tips, guys! It's nice to hear from people, even if we're not actively writing together right now.

Oh right! I forgot about Showtime! Although...that may be premium cable, I can't remember.

You really should get USA Network. They have some of the best programming around, although their scheduling is freaking annoying ^^

I don't think USA is in the basic package we ordered, but we have plenty of shows available! More than we can watch I think. We just watched the Terra Nova pilot, it was good.

It's "Showcase" I was mantioning. They have a show called Lost girl with a girls with abilities which is kind of promising. It's new. I've also started a show "A Gifted Man" about a doctor who sees his ex wife as a ghost and she influences him as he does his start surgeon job, I like it so far.

I know about Showcase. I have a good friend who is a big fan of Lost Girl - I have all the episodes myself, I just haven't watched them yet. A Gifted Man is completely new, only two episodes so far I think. Haven't heard many reviews yet, but I have all the eps and will watch it :)

I thought my guide said Lost Girl was new. Hm. I can check for videos. A Gifted man is good for me because it's a medical drama, and has the fantasy ghost element, but I think it's going to mostly be a "drama." ie his life and career troubles. With the context above I'll enjoy it still but not all genre fans would.

Bummer that the bad guys in Terra Nova are called "sixers!" The show looks good though. Clever of them to make it about a family with a gorgeous guy for my age plus cute teens. Then they have the cute and monster dinos, the action, the character drama. Well planned for wide appeal, and seemingly so far, well executed.

I'd love it if people could "like" this music video my husband's gorgeous neice is in. She plays the wife. Wish she could be in my script!
